Realizing the need for multiple private organizations to involve themselves in the coaching programme so as to develop sports persons of International repute, Shri. Subhash Desai decided to take up the ‘Project 2000’ to produce International Standard Athletes .
The aim of the project is to prepare a selected group of 30 children (Boys and Girls) in the age group of 8 to 12 years for the long period to bring them to international standard in various disciplines of Athletics.
The eminent personalities of International repute in the field of Athletics were involved in the Planning, Preparation and the Execution of this prestigious programme. To name a few Shri Yeshwantrao Gole – Chairman (Secretary General, Maharashtra State Olympic Association; Shri Satish Pradhan, M.P. President,  Maharashtra State Athletics Assn.; Shri Jal D. Pardiwala.; Shri D.B. Puthran- National Refree, Coach, Tata Sport Club; Shri Cosmos Pereira. Secretary, Bombay Suburban District Athletics Association; Shri Bala Govinda, National Coach; Dr. Manohar Adwankar, Chief Secretary Prabodhan Goregaon, Recepient of Shiv Chhatrapati Award were involved in planning of this project.
The selection criteria was based on Skill Test, Aptitude Test, Speed and Endurance Test and Battery Tests and was to allow only 30 children (Preferably 15 boys and 15 girls). The selected children were provided with training as well as competitive Kit, Track Suits,  Spikes shoes, Shorts, Vests, T-Shirts etc. by sponsorors. Keeping in mind nutrition needs substantial refreshments both in the morning as well as in the evenings were given to participants after their training sessions. All modern training equipments including weight training facilities will be made available “FREE OF COST” to the selected Athletes. The selected Athletes underwent two years of basic training and five years of advance training under the able guidance of qualified and experienced Coaches. The selected Athletes were exposed to District, State, National and International Competitions from time to time depending on the progress and achievements the make in the field of Athletics.
Looking at the planning and execution methodologies of Shri. Subhash Desai and his keen interest in the entire process, undoubtedly one day he will achieve his dream of making indian sports talent glow on the global era.
