Looking at the Blood scarcity and suffering being caused by needy people he envisioned a non-for-profit Blood Bank with latest equipments – corteous staff – best of technicians – 24 hours prompt service. He made this dream come true into reality thru ‘Sau Meenatai Thackeray Blood Bank’ which is one of it’s kind and supposed to be the the best, technologically superior blood banks among the blood banks available in Mumbai. Beyond being just another centre for blood transfusion, Sou Meenatai Thackeray Blood Bank is a solace for the needy. Sou Meenatai Thackeray Blood Bank operates within an exclusive space of 2000 Sq. Ft., leased out by the Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika. Approved by the FDA of the Government of Maharashtra. In addition to providing whole blood, the bank is also equipped to separate various blood components such as platelets, packed cells, saline washed packed cells, frozen plasma, cryoprecipitate etc.
On 26th July 2005 with its deluge that submerged Mumbai, and Subhash Desai aimed to reach out to the maximum people in need of blood. With the support of blood donors, government institutions and revered patrons, ‘Sau Meenatai Thackeray Blood Bank’ came to be recognized as one of the most economicically underprivileged people.
On 11th September 2006 when terror visited Mumbai's local trains, Subhash Desai jumped into action to collect blood for the injured fellow travellers. With the support of the people, over 300 blood bags were collected at Goregaon Railway Station, in just span.
Realizing the Need for an initiative of reaching the Doorsteps of Blood Donors, Shri. Subhash Desai made available Mumbai's first ever Blood Collection Van which was inaugurated on 23rd May 2008 at the hands of Shivsena Executive President Shri Uddhav Thackeray.
Looking at the ways Shri. Subhash Desai is working for Blood Donation Campaign, it seems that soon his dream of making the blood available for every needy, giving him a right to healthy life will come true.
